Bath Old Edwardians produced another bullish display to knock Avonvale out of the Somerset Cup with a 34 - 10 victory. OE's dominated all aspects of the game with the forwards producing a platform through aggressive scrummaging and superb open play. They were particularly effective at the breakdown and used some intelligent lines with great support play to make inroads against a committed yet outgunned Avonvale pack. OE's were 17 - 3 up at the turnaround and looked in control. After the break Avonvale came quickly out the blocks and produced a much sharper performance and some good positional kicking saw them deep in OE territory. Despite a brave defensive effort Avonvale scored a try to make the score 17 - 10 and bring them back into the match. OE's startred to play a more expansive game and this paid dividends with two tries through the backs to put the game beyond reach. OE's tries came from Craig Crane, Rob Holmyard, Jez Springnall and three from Johnnie Cross. A well executed victory sees them through to the next round where they will meet a much tougher encounter against Somerset I side Chard.
