Bath Old Edwardians 1st XV 36 - 5 Gordano 2nd XV

Bath Old Edwardians secured their first League win of the season with a convincing 36 - 5 win at home to Gordano. OE's dominated all aspects of the match. The forwards were in control at the set pieces and were rampant in the loose with back rowers Johnny Leverett, Guy Levell and GP Malfense Fierro in the thick of the action which allowed the backs plenty of possession to play an expansive game. This played dividends in the fourth minute when full back Paul Eke touched down after a some slick handling. The OE's scrum out gunned the visitors and quick ball allowed a clever offload from fly half Keith Onions to center Johnnie Cross who broke through his opposite number to score under the posts. The fly half soon added a try of his own with an explosive break from thirty yards out to put OE's 17 - 0 up at the turnaround. The OE's didn't take their foot of the gas in the second half and with hooker Philip Sowells always hitting his target in the lineouts OE's made their territorial advantage count and scored three more tries in the second half through Johnnie Cross, Ian Gear and Tom Maltby. The visitors scored a consolation try near the end. The OE's forwards were in a commanding mood all afternoon and will hope to carry this form into what should be a tougher test on saturday away to Oldfield.
